Print Care & Production

WildOutback’s fine art prints are produced with Epson UltraChrome HDX ink pigment technology incorporating High-gloss Microcrystal EncapsulationTM Technology.   Although Epson's UltraChrome HDX ink has print permanence characteristics that provide lightfastness ratings of up to 200 years for color, more for Black and White prints, care should be taken with the prints.  The permanence of displayed prints created with new UltraChrome HDX inks far exceeds that of the very best silver-halide color (chromogenic) papers.  The result is a new level of color print permanence for the fine art, museum, documentary, portrait/wedding, and commercial photography markets.  The Framed and the StandOuts mounted photographic prints have either an acrylic sheet or surface laminate, respectively, that will keep out 98% of the UV damaging rays that can affect any color print or image.

  1. WildOutback highly recommends that fine art prints be placed in locations away from any direct sunlight or direct indoor lighting sources, such as ceiling spot lights or intense lighting sources for picture viewing.
  2. Indirect light sources are the best form of lighting for viewing the prints to help maintain the longevity of the photographic fine art.

ACRYLITE and LAMINATE

The Framed prints are protected with acrylic clear sheeting, Acrylite OP-3 MR, which has UV protection for the photographic prints, offering museum quality UV protection.  Acrylite filters out 98% of damaging UV rays, protecting the paper-borne prints from becoming brittle, fading, and yellowing.  The Acrylite OP-3 MR also contains an abrasion resistant finish that resists normal scratches.  Acrylite is great protection from the irreversible effects of UV damage and it protects from both natural and artificial light.

StandOut Prints

StandOut Prints have a gloss 5 mils UV laminate material that has been pressure mounted over the print itself. This clear laminate gives the fine art print UV protection from damaging light rays and air-borne contaminants.  Also, the laminate will protect the art print from scratches and allows the surface to be cleaned with a damp cloth.

Cleaning

Because WildOutback uses Acrylite OP-3 MR on its Framed prints, the acrylic sheet should be cleaned with common household cleaners only, such as Windex or glass cleaners. Other stronger household cleaners or grease cutting cleaners, should not be used on the Acrylite.  Dry gritty cloths will cause surface scratches. The StandOut prints should only be cleaned using a clean damp cloth over the surface laminate of the print.
